Yes. The “device-free logbook” licence costs €49 once, for life, and lets you manage a bike in the app without hardware: service log, due-date reminders, PDF resale certificate. You enter hours by hand and the meter is flagged as unverified: only the HOROTAG RUUVI counts them automatically and seals them. It's sold at horotag.com/licences.

Because Google Play and the App Store require their own billing for any digital good sold inside an app, with the commission that comes with it. By selling on the site and only activating a key in the app, the price stays the same for you and the app contains no in-app purchases.

After payment you get a key formatted HT-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX by email. In the app: Garage → Licence key, paste it, it's instant. From a computer: app.horotag.com → Settings → Licences. Case and dashes don't matter.

It stays available on your payment confirmation page, and in your account area if you were signed in when buying. Check your spam folder too. If nothing shows up within 10 minutes, email hello@horotag.com with the address used for the purchase and we'll find it.

It moves a HOROTAG GPS or ULTIMATE GPS you already own onto a new bike without buying another device: it creates the bike and re-points the tracker to it. GPS trackers only: a RUUVI stays sealed to its original bike. The previous bike's history is kept.

Never. Our servers are in France, we follow the GDPR to the letter, and there's no third-party tracker. For ULTIMATE GPS and GPS, positions are stored in Europe and never leave the HOROTAG infrastructure, unless you generate a theft report that you hand over to law enforcement yourself.

You go to Settings → Privacy → Delete my account. The account stays recoverable for 30 days (technical reactivation window), then all your data is erased permanently.

All motocross and enduro bikes from 50 cc up, whatever the brand. The device detects engine vibrations, whatever the engine type. It also works on trial and supermoto bikes.

Up to 5 years in normal use. The reason is simple: our firmware listens to one thing only, the accelerometer. The device also carries a temperature probe, and we never read it — reading it continuously would cut battery life to a few months, and it wouldn't help count engine hours. When your bike isn't running, the device sleeps: it uses almost nothing. When the battery starts to weaken, you swap it yourself in under a minute: it's a standard coin cell.

Yes, no problem. The device is built to withstand high-pressure jets, mud, impacts and the vibrations of a crash.

You order a new one. In the app, you choose « Replace the device »: your history and counted hours move to the new one. You lose nothing.

Your engine hours are recorded on our side, not in the device. Once written, they can never go back down, be erased or altered. Not by you, not by a workshop, not even by us. Any attempt is detected and visible on your log.

The hour meter stays exactly where it stopped. When you replace the device via the app, the new one starts from the recorded value. There's no way to roll it back.

At the paddock, deep in the forest, with no 4G: no problem. The device counts your hours offline and keeps them until the next sync. When you get home and open the app, everything syncs on its own.

For every rider who mainly wants to know where their bike is and be alerted if it disappears: road, trail, custom, sport, scooter, vintage. If you ride intensive motocross/enduro: or if you simply want the best tracker for your road bike: look at ULTIMATE GPS instead (detailed GPS trace + alert when the bike sets off).

One position every 8 hours when the bike is stationary, and every 30 minutes when it is moving (a GPS fix every 15 minutes). This setting favours battery life: up to 5 years for weekend-leisure use, around 3.3 years for daily city use, with no subscription.

GPS is a low-power tracker: it does not run continuous vibration detection, so it cannot know whether the engine is running. What it does know is when the bike sets off and when it stops: the app derives the length of the ride from that and grows your hours on its own. That meter remains an estimate, adjustable in a few taps, so it is not sealed. It shows no mileage, however: at 4 fixes an hour, two consecutive positions are 12.5 km apart at 50 km/h, and adding up those jumps would measure nothing. Sealing is reserved for the RUUVI, which really measures the engine and can be fitted to the same bike. The server signature is the same as across the rest of the range, and the full service log (reminders, history, certificate) is included, exactly as on RUUVI and ULTIMATE GPS.

Yes: if the position moves outside your known zone, you get a push notification + email with a map. You can mark « it's me », « I'm checking », or « confirm theft »: in the latter case we generate a sealed PDF report ready for the police.

It's the most advanced GPS tracker in the range, on road and off-road alike. Compared to GPS: (1) thirty times more fixes while riding — 120 an hour against 4, meaning 417 m between two positions at 50 km/h where the GPS leaves 12.5 km — hence a detailed trace of every ride; (2) positions refreshed every 10 min while riding, against 30 — the alert itself goes out when the bike sets off on both trackers; (3) an ultra-rugged, waterproof device; (4) an automatic hour AND mileage counter (estimated): both build up from trips on their own and stay adjustable in the app, where HOROTAG GPS gives hours only, with no mileage. Only RUUVI counts engine time and seals it. That resolution is paid for in battery: on the profiles that ride the most, ULTIMATE GPS lasts less long than the GPS. The full service log is included.

Exactly the same. Hour log, service log, Paddock, PDF resale certificate: no difference. Moving to ULTIMATE GPS breaks nothing and takes nothing away.

It depends entirely on the usage profile, not on rank in the range. A sportbike ridden through the warm season: about 9.1 years. Weekend-leisure use, the median French profile, the one our “up to 8 years” rests on: 8.1 years. An adventure bike on long trips: 4.3 years. A high-mileage rider: 3.7 years. Daily city use: 2.5 years. On those last three profiles, HOROTAG GPS lasts longer, because it takes thirty times fewer fixes. These are long-life, non-rechargeable, replaceable batteries. The app shows the remaining level as a percentage and alerts you when less than 6 months of estimated battery life remain.

Yes, a 4G/LTE-M IoT SIM is built in. It's included for 10 years in the 399 €: no plan to sign up for, no monthly fee, no surprises.

The IoT SIM covers all of Europe. Outside it, the trace is stored locally; positions will only be reported once back in the covered zone. Engine hours, meanwhile, can be adjusted whenever you like, with or without a signal.

Outside a session, HOROTAG ULTIMATE GPS sends its position every 8 hours. If the bike moves more than 5 km outside your usual patterns, or if an implied speed is detected outside a session, the app receives an alert with a map, in 5 minutes on average. You respond with 3 options: « it's me », « I'm checking », or « confirm theft ».

No. It's a detection and recovery tool that works alongside it. In the event of a confirmed theft, we generate a sealed PDF report ready to hand to law enforcement, with a map, timestamps, hardware identifiers and a URL updated at every report, for investigators.

They'd have to physically find it (tucked under the seat / in the electrical box) and then break it. It's possible but it takes time: and every position sent before it's disabled stays in the report.

They scan the QR code you put on your listing and see, on their phone, your entire history: how many hours the bike has really run, every oil change, every part replaced, the photos you've added.

Every line of the log is locked by a server signature. If someone changes so much as a comma, the signature no longer matches: a mechanic, an expert or a buyer can verify with a single scan that a log is intact, even offline.
