The range is not a battery-life ranking.
On the three profiles that ride the most — adventure touring, high-mileage, daily city use — it is the HOROTAG GPS that lasts longest, not the ULTIMATE GPS. That is normal and deliberate: the ULTIMATE takes thirty times more fixes, and that is paid for in battery. The ULTIMATE buys resolution with battery; the GPS buys duration with less resolution. The right device depends on how you ride, not on its rank in the range.
Figures calculated with the official Digital Matter calculators and our real settings (both devices report every 8 h at rest; while riding, 30 min and a fix every 15 min on the GPS, 10 min and a fix every 30 s on the ULTIMATE GPS). The first number is the nominal case, the one in brackets the worst case. Batteries are replaceable and the app shows the remaining level as a percentage.
