From the boxto your first session.
Creating your account & downloading the app.
- Download the HOROTAG app from the App Store or Google Play (see App page).
- Open the app, choose "Create my account". Email + password + username.
- Confirm your email via the link you receive (check your spam folder, it sometimes takes 1-2 min).
- Enable 2FA from Settings → My account if you want an extra layer of security (recommended).
Pairing the device to the app.
- In the app, open Garage → + Add a bike.
- Scan the QR code printed on the device label or stuck on the packaging. If you no longer have the label, the 6-character code on the back of the device works too (manual entry).
- The app checks that the device is free (not already assigned to another account). If you bought it second-hand, ask the seller to transfer it from their app — they generate a transfer token that you paste into Settings → Receive a bike.
- Enter the make, model and year of your bike. Choose the reference service program (motocross 50, 4-stroke enduro, sport road…) — you can override it later.
- Confirm the starting hours: engine hours already on the meter the day of mounting (typically 0 for a new bike, otherwise an honest estimate).
Calibration 60 seconds, just once.
Calibration teaches the device the vibration signature of YOUR engine. It's needed to tell a running engine apart from a bike pushed on its stand, transport in a van, or a knock on the frame.
- Open the app, go to the bike, launch Calibration.
- Start the engine. Let it idle for the 60 seconds the app asks for.
- Switch off the engine. The calibration is saved and signed on the server — it stays valid for life for this bike.
- HOROTAG GPS and HOROTAG ULTIMATE GPS: no vibration calibration, these are pure GPS trackers. You enter your hours by hand in the app after each ride (4 taps). Only the RUUVI counts the hours on its own.
- HOROTAG ULTIMATE GPS: on top of that, anti-theft settings (home zone, motion sensitivity) and a detailed GPS track of every trip.
Your first ride. You have nothing to do.
Really nothing. On RUUVI, the device detects the start-up, counts the hours, records the session locally. No need to open the app before, during or after. (On GPS and ULTIMATE GPS, you'll enter your hours by hand when you get back — 4 taps.)
When you get back, take your phone near the bike (≤ 10 m) and open the app. Bluetooth syncing happens in the background — you see the hour meter update within seconds.
If you ride in a zone with no 4G (forest, paddock, abroad), no worries: the device stores up to 18 months of riding locally and syncs as soon as you reopen the app within Bluetooth range.
Share or sell. QR + temporary link.
Three distinct uses for sharing:
- Prospective buyer at resale: from the bike, Actions → Resale link. You generate a QR or a temporary link (7 days by default, adjustable up to 90 days). The buyer scans it, sees the full service log, can download the official PDF.
- Mechanic / buddy: same but a short link (24 h). Lets your mechanic see the history before servicing.
- Permanent transfer: at the point of sale, you generate a transfer token. The buyer pastes it into their app, the bike moves to their account with all its history. The physical device stays on the bike.
When it acts up. The six classic faults.
The app doesn't see the device over Bluetooth
The meter doesn't move after a ride
False anti-theft notification when I park the bike at a buddy's place
The app shows "low battery"
I lost my phone, how do I get my garage back?
The app refuses to edit a service entry in the log
