01The specific problem with dirt bikes

A motocross bike has no lockable steering head and no ignition lock. You can't fit a conventional D-lock. It weighs around a hundred kilos — two people can lift it into a van in seconds.

Motocross and enduro bikes are prime targets for thieves: high value, easy to break for parts, no suitable mechanical lock. The most targeted models are the most common ones: KTM SX/EXC, Yamaha YZ/WR, Husqvarna FC/FE, Honda CRF.

02Why a GPS tracker is the answer

Discreet and well protected

The box mounts out of sight on the bike, shielded from prying eyes, spray and mud — IP68 waterproof, it shrugs off rain, mud and splashes.

Battery life built for off-road

Up to 4 years on HOROTAG GPS, up to ~7 years on HOROTAG ULTIMATE GPS. No recharging every fortnight like consumer trackers.

Anti-theft + maintenance logbook

Unlike pure trackers (GeoRide, Monimoto), HOROTAG boxes also keep the bike's sealed maintenance logbook: servicing, hours, PDF resale certificate. That's 2 products in 1.

⚠ ATTENTION
The GPS trackers in the range do not count engine hours automatically: you enter them by hand in the logbook. For automatic counting on a dirt bike, that's HOROTAG RUUVI (€129, Bluetooth) — and it pairs nicely with a tracker on the same bike.

03The theft scenario with a HOROTAG tracker

1. The thief loads your bike into a van 2. The box detects the movement and reports its position 3. You get a push alert: "your bike moved without you" 4. You answer the alert — "that's normal", "I'm checking" or "it's a theft" 5. Once theft is confirmed, you switch to live tracking and hand the police the PDF theft report (position, history, timestamps)

And to avoid false alarms: trust zones (home, garage, practice ground) and "I'm riding" mode, which mutes alerts for the duration of your session.

04Which box for a dirt bike?

  • HOROTAG GPS (€299) — the essential GPS anti-theft, dirt bikes included. Spaced positions to last, manual logbook.

  • HOROTAG RUUVI (€129) — not a tracker: the automatic hour meter, to add if you also want engine wear tracked on its own.

No subscription in any case. 4G IoT SIM included for 10 years on both trackers.
